Hattiesburg Library Quilt
45 x 61
In celebration of Hattiesburg, Mississippi's $6 million library built in 1996, Pine Belt Quilters created a quilt to hang in the children's section. Architectural design elements from the building were used in the background and borders, and storybook characters peek out of windows. The characters or books depicted are Madeline, Elizabeth Brown (from The Library), Bear, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Strega Nona, Velveteen Rabbit, Gingerbread Man, Mike Mulligan and His Steamshovel, Cat in the Hat, Frog and Toad, Babar, and Curious George.

The quilt was designed and assembled by Martha Ginn and appliqued by Martha, Frances Graham, Ellen Hall, Sarah Farris, Rosalie Schoell, and Betty Tudor, and quilted by Martha and six other quilters. The quilt was juried into the IQA show in Houston in 1997. It hangs in the Children's Wing of the Library in Hattiesburg.
