Innovative Fiber Art

In the Jungle, the Lion Sleeps Tonight
34 x 28
This is the first quilt I made using David Walker's layering techniques. The viewer sometimes sees images that seem to be in the sky, sometimes deep in the jungle. The large animal print of the backing caused me to sing an old favorite song by The Weavers, "Wimoweh," all the time I quilted it in variegated threads, which gave the quilt its name. Exhibited at Quilt the Swamp, Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, Baton Rouge. LA. It won 2nd place and Judge's Choice in Pine Belt Quilters 10th Biennial show, October 2003, Hattiesburg, MS.
