Angel Trumpet

13 X 13
(matted and framed under glass 20 X 20)

This piece is white silk with paraffin/beeswax resist applied to describe a picture of a large angel trumpet from my yard. The flower was then painted with Jacquard paints in the masked-off areas. After the resist was removed with hot water, the piece was layered and quilted using rayon threads to match or enhance the painted colors. Hand-dyed fabric was applied for borders and binding. After the piece was completed, I was never satisfied with the overall effect. The delicacy of the silk seemed to call for framing under glass. So I cut away the borders and had it matted and framed.
