This piece began with white Kona cotton with paraffin/beeswax resist applied in a rough circular design. Then Jacquard paints were applied in the masked-off areas and lightly applied to the background. After the resist was removed with boiling water, the piece was layered and quilted using rayon threads to match or enhance the painted colors. Hand-dyed fabric in a wrap-around fashion forms the borders and binding.
