MQA
Spring Gathering
Mississippi Quilt Association held
its Spring Gathering in Hattiesburg
February 9-10, 2007. Mary Nell Magee
completed her year as president with
her home guild, Pine Belt Quilters,
hosting the Gathering. Her platform
for the year had been “Imagine the
Possibilities, Believe in Yourself,
Achieve your Dreams.” These inspirational
words had driven each of the three
Gatherings during the year.
PBQ made the table decorations—black
and white ceramic pots stuffed with
colorful fabric squares, growing
stars and hearts bearing words calligraphied
by Paula Jones. Over 200 quilters
attended the event, and PBQ members
demonstrated a variety of new techniques
for early attendees on Friday afternoon.
The Friday night and Saturday programs
featured: Organizing Quilting Stashes
and Spaces by Shirley Wiltshire;
EQ-6 by Leslie Kiger; Turning your
Photos into Quilts by Judy Spiers;
The Creative Mind of Martha Ginn;
and the Northwind Block by Dorinda
Evans.
